When you are purchase a Siberian Husky from The Northern Manor, you'll have ample opportunity to ask questions about how to care for your new pup. We want the transition to be comfortable for both you and your new furry family member. The Northern Manor is dedicated to helping our pups find loving and warm homes.

When you first obtain your Husky, you should think about where he will sleep. Every animal likes a place that is his alone. This is a place he can go to rest and regroup after an afternoon of work or play. You should give serious thought to your pet's space and ensure it suits both of your needs.

If your Siberian is going to sleep inside, you should give him his own rug, dog bed, or crate. You will want to place his bed in a location free of drafts. You also would not want to place him right next to a wall heater, or radiator. Wherever you decide to put your dog's bed, it is advised that you leave it there. It is confusing for any dog when he walks to his bed, only to find it missing. How unsettling it would be for us if we retired to our room after a long day to discover our bed had vanished!

It is perfectly fine to have your Siberian stay outside, too. These canines acclimate easily to chilly winter conditions. If you live in an area that has hot summers, you should provide your Husky with plenty of shade, or take him indoors to a garage or other cool area. You should always provide a dog house if your dog is to stay outdoors. This house should be spacious enough for your dog to stand comfortably and turn around. When placing a dog house, you should always set it on bricks or some other object to keep it off the ground. This will keep your pet's house from getting damp. The house will also hold heat better in the winter when elevated a few inches off the ground.
