If you want to breed your Siberian Husky, you should be familiar with heat cycles. Most Siberians reach their first heats cycles between six and eight months. However, your female could reach her first cycle as early as six months, or as late as thirteen. You should always record these dates. This will help you when predicting a future cycle. Generally, it's not a good idea to breed your Siberian during her first heat cycle.

Heat cycles generally last for three weeks, and they can occur every six months. If you do not have your dog protected by a fence outside, you should bring her indoors. When your female needs exercise, you should do so on a lead during her heat cycle. The only exception is if you are certain she is protected from unsavory suitors, who most certainly can come from miles around!

Raising a litter of Siberian Husky pups is a rewarding experience, especially for children. It teaches them about pet care, keeps them busy, and they can learn much about responsibility. However, you should not jump into it lightly. When you purchase a Siberian Husky pup through The Northern Manor, we'll be happy to discuss with you the many issues regarding the care and responsibility involved when breeding your Husky.

Unless you are planning to breed or show your Siberian Husky, it is recommended that you have her spayed. Spaying is generally advised after your Husky's first heat cycle, and before her first birthday. This ensures your female will still develop normally, but you won't have to deal with the complications that can occur by having her spayed in later years.
