The Siberian Husky has a rich history of fulfilling a variety of roles for their masters. Whether that role is as a worker, companion, or hunter, Siberians are a dependable breed much loved by their owners. Siberian Huskies always remain near the top of the list of most wanted breeds. Siberians are thought of by many as an Eskimo dog. In fact, today's Siberians are direct descendants of the Eskimo dog, along with the Samoyed and Alaskan Malamute. In the freezing northern tundra, Siberian Huskies pulled sleds, herded elk and reindeer, and acted as guard dogs. When fur traders made contact with the Eskimos and native Siberians, they brought Huskies back home with them, which is how we have them among us today. Siberian Huskies have earned a reputation as hard working, loyal, and even heroic animals. One such story of Siberian Husky heroism took place during the 1925 outbreak of diphtheria in Nome, Alaska. With blizzard conditions and winds traveling 80 miles an hour, these stoic canines were able to travel 600 miles with the medication needed to save many who were ill. Their intelligence and endurance is memorialized in many places, including New York City's Central Park. The Northern Manor offers a superior line of Siberian Huskies. These affectionate and playful pups are socialized and ready for a loving home. If you would like to have a Siberian Husky of your own, contact The Northern Manor for details.
