Many simply think Husky coats are always the standard colors of black and white. However, the diverse colors and markings on Siberian Huskies are as unique and special as the dogs themselves. Certain coat markings are not more desirable than others--all colors and combinations are acceptable for breed standards. While many kennel clubs have their own descriptions and guidelines, the colors of Huskies generally include black, agouti, grey, red, sable and white. There are many different variations to these base colors that could classify the dog as silver, copper, light red, black and tan, and more. For instance, a coat classified as "red" may include either white or black points. Husky coats are composed of two colors, a base color and a secondary color. The base color covers the top of the dog (head, ears, top of the tail, and body). Red, black, and grey are the most common base coat colors. The dog's undercoat is the secondary color, usually white or a soft grey. At The Northern Manor, we are very knowledgeable about Siberian Huskies.
