Contrary to what some believe, the Siberian Husky is not a genetic descendant of the wolf. Siberian Huskies are pure-bred dogs. Urban legend may describe all Eskimo dogs as part wolf, but this isn't true for the Siberian Husky. Siberian Huskies can, of course, display a color known as "wolf grey" as well as wolf-like expressions or markings on their faces. This does not, however, mean they are descended from a wolf.
Because Siberian Huskies have a history of working in a pack, this may have lead to the confusion about their breed's origins. Siberian Huskies are far from wild, and were domesticated by the Chukchi people of Siberia. Siberians demonstrate keen intelligence and an aptitude for directional navigation. There are some Siberians that appear more wolf-like than others. If you are wanting a truly unique Siberian, the agouti may be the one for you. Agoutis have very rare coloring and they are magnificent dogs. They truly do not know they look so wild, so their feelings may be hurt if a visitor doesn't readily want to make friends. Siberians are a friendly breed, and the agouti is no exception. If you would like to learn more about agoutis or other unique Siberians, contact The Northern Manor. Here you can learn about all things Husky. The Northern Manor is rising to the top of the field as one of the best places to find a healthy and happy Siberian Husky puppy.
